Are the main characters in disaster movies normally male or female? Mainly Male  2. Which of your chosen films involve a storyline in which the main character has to get a member of their family to safety? In Sand Andreas, the main character has to safe his daughter from drowning. 3.The 'disaster' in Disaster movies usually falls into the following categories: natural (earthquakes/volcanoes/climate change) alien attack or an epidemic.
